Lambert, Edwards & Associates, a Grand Rapids public and investor relations firm, was named PRWeek’s Small PR Agency of the Year at an awards ceremony in New York City.
PRWeek, the leading trade journal for PR and corporate communications professionals, selected the 12-year-old firm from among hundreds of applicants representing agencies with annual revenues between $ 5 million and $ 10 million.
“We are absolutely delighted with this recognition by our industry peers,” said Tara Powers, partner and CEO of the firm. “This is a testament to the work our team has done on behalf of our clients.”
Jeff Lambert is the President and Managing Partner of the company headquartered at 171 Monroe Ave. NW.
While a number of agencies struggled in the past year due to the weak economy, LE&A reported a 6% organic revenue growth and a 5% increase of its net profit. It has also recorded an adjusted annual operating profit of over 30% over the past five years. In addition to financial growth, the award also recognized growth in the customer list, customer and employee retention, customer satisfaction, innovation, creativity and good human resource practices, such as fully paid employee health care, welfare reimbursement program and continuing education.
Some of that growth can be attributed to LE&A’s acquisition last year of John Bailey & Associates, a Troy-based agency that brought with it a staff of 15 and around 25 new clients, Powers says. The acquisition increased the agency’s workforce to 37 employees, including 24 in Grand Rapids, making it the largest public relations firm in western Michigan.
Spartan Motors, Georgia-Pacific, Zondervan, Blue Cross-Blue Shield, Hangar42 Studios, and Salvation Army Kroc Center are among its more than 100 customers in 20 states.
