Navratri-2022 Festival in Katra, 8th day Shobha Yatra reported by administrative officials


Navratri Mahotsav-2022 is celebrated in Katra, Jammu in collaboration with the administration and the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board. The main attraction of the 8th day of the festival was the Shobha Yatra. This was reported by Sandeep Mehta (ASP), IRP Commander and President of the Municipality. He was accompanied by Vimal Indu, Sunaina Sharma Mehta, JKAS Joint Director Tourism, Ms. Ambika Bali, JKAS, ADT Katra, Ms. Ranjit Kaur, JKAS State Taxation Officer.

The Shobha Yatra began with colorful arrays and cultural processions from Asia Chowk Katra to Bus Stand Katra, showcasing cultural diversity and many aspects of Hindu mythology. A jubilant atmosphere filled the atmosphere of celebration and devotion amidst a spellbinding crowd.

The highlight of the Shobha Yatra was ‘Shiv Bharat’, which received an overwhelming response from pilgrims chanting ‘Jai Mata Di’ ‘Jai Bholenath Ki’. The efforts of the tourism department in successfully organizing the Navratri festival in Katra attracted a huge crowd of tourists and they appreciated the efforts of the tourism department.

ASP Sandeep Mehta congratulated all local stakeholders, participants, tourism department, police department, district administration for successfully organizing such a great festival. He also attended the play ‘Mata Ki Kahani’ which is being staged by the Natrang Theater Group at Railway Road, Katra followed by a spectacular laser show on ‘Mata Ki Kahani’.

The guest of honor also attended the multimedia exhibition and cultural programs organized by H. Sec Katra School and Central Communications Bureau, Union Territories of J&K and Ladakh. Artists from Jammu and Kashmir and other parts of India captivated audiences with their folk songs and dance performances.

Later, the guests visited the Yoga Ashram complex. Where all of India’s devotional song competition is held during the ongoing Navratri festival. The singers captivated the audience with their performance of devotional songs and bhajans. Other highlights of the day were Prabhat Pheri which was held early in the morning and Bhagwat Katha in the evening at Raghunath Temple Katra. It is pertinent to mention here that Navratri Mahotsav 2022 will end on October 4, which marks the 9-day festival organized by the Department of Tourism in Katra, Jammu, Kishtwar and Kathua.
