The National Advertising Division (NAD), which april 2020 launched Fast-Track SWIFT to address the urgent need for rapid resolution of truth and transparency issues that arise in advertising, has today improved this process to make the challenge of misleading advertising disclosures more effective.

This fully online process aims to streamline and simplify cases to encourage the use of SWIFT Fast-Track for influencer marketing, consumer reviews, and dark pattern issues that arise when important information is missing. not disclosed, leading to consumer mistrust of advertising. The new SWIFT Fast-Track path will use existing procedures but remove the requirement to submit a letter with the challenge (now optional) and reduce filing fees.

“With the FTC’s recent focus on recommendations and dark models, we know companies are taking a close look at their own advertising practices,” said Laura Brett, Vice President, National Advertising Division, National BBB Programs. “Businesses should use SWIFT Fast-Track, including this new disclosure route, to raise the bar in their industry and restore consumer confidence in the online marketplace. Consumers shouldn’t have to search for the information necessary to understand an advertisement. “
