The Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation is offering medical care packages to customers at competitive prices in a bid to tap the growing wellness tourism market in India.
The country has become one of Asia’s most sought-after destinations for medical-value travel in recent decades and has created a unique ecosystem for holistic health, according to an IRCTC statement on Friday.
About 6.97 lake medical tourists visited India in 2019 for medical treatment and the country will account for 6% of the global medical value tourism market share by 2023, he said, citing data from the Indian Institute of Public Administration.
Amid the growing presence of health institutes across the country, IRCTC has felt the need to help customers opt for the medical facilities for the treatment of their ailments as per their choice, convenience and budget.
“In order to enhance the bouquet of its travel and tourism offerings, IRCTC has recently launched the online medical tourism package services for customers,” said the travel, tourism and hospitality subsidiary of IRCTC. railroads.
The aim is to provide a holistic experience of the medical value of travel with various other elements such as accommodation arrangements, road transfers and optional post-treatment wellness packages, he said.
With a large network of hospitals, retirement homes and diagnostic centers set up with its technical partner, the IRCTC offers packages at “very competitive” prices.
It has partnered with an online medical-technical services company on a pilot basis to provide the back-end service package to customers who are on various medical and wellness packages.
To avail the services, a customer must log in to the IRCTC Tourism Portal www.irctctourism.com/MedicalTourism and complete a basic request form on details of treatment needs.
Once the request is generated, the IRCTC team will call the client and explain the processing options based on convenience and budget.
The company is aggressively marketing its medical tourism initiative through its network of pan-India offices and has also held a product awareness session for its agents and staff at various zonal and regional offices.
