Indian tour groups can now enter Japan


The Government of Japan has announced a policy to resume entry for Indian visitors entering Japan on group tours, conditionally for tourism purposes. For the first time in over two years, inbound tourism from India to Japan is expected to pick up. For visitors from all countries including India, PCR testing on arrival and quarantines had no longer been carried out from September 7, 2022, subject to conditions. Japan has increased entries of foreign nationals from 20,000 to 50,000 per day. Specifically for tourism purposes, conditional entries are allowed from 7 September 2022 for people traveling in group tours organized by travel agencies. It is the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and India.

The Japan National Tourism Board, Delhi Office sees this announcement as a step towards fully resuming travel to Japan and will continue to provide the latest information to everyone and make constant efforts to promote travel to Japan. from India.

The government announced a policy that Japan would take steps to join in this effort. I see this as a first step towards the recovery of inbound tourism in Japan. JNTO is working with local governments and DMOs in Japan, as well as domestic and foreign travel agencies, airlines and other organizations, to prepare for the resumption of inbound travel. In anticipation of major international events, such as the UNWTO World Food Tourism Forum in December this year, the Adventure Travel World Summit (ATWS) in 2023 and Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, we We will intensify our efforts to publish information on tourism. In the meantime, we plan to roll out promotions taking into account Japan’s policy on accepting incoming tourists to Japan. Japan, an archipelago of some 7,000 islands stretching from north to south over 3,000 km, is a green country whose lands are approximately 70% covered in forest. It is a place where you can enjoy the beautiful nature. Japan’s other attractions, including some of the best cuisine in the world, great cities like Tokyo, and traditions and culture that date back over 2,000 years, remain the same.
